Stride Equine Research (Pty) Ltd

A proud heritage of nearly three decades

The company was established in 1998, when the equine and pet products marketed by two separate companies were combined and promoted under the auspices of Stride Distributors. The range of products includes nutritional scientific concepts developed in Australia, USA and Europe to cater for the requirements of equine athletes or recreation horses.

The primary objective has not changed since 1998 – to research, test, register and supply supplements to the equine sporting and recreational industry which will contribute to an improvement in health or performance ability.

The majority of our products are registered with the governing regulators further indicating scientific soundness and efficacy. Stride Equine will never market a product unless we are 100% satisfied it will deliver the benefits we planned and tested for.

The founder of the company, Dr. Glynn Catton qualified in 1969 as a veterinarian and entered the pharmaceutical and chemical industry in the 1970’s. In 1980 he established an industrial veterinary consultancy which has been involved in product registration plus the necessary trials to support a registration. And so set the foundation and ambition for Strides Equine Research.

In late 2024 Dr. Catton retired and the company changed hands. It is now owned by a passionate equestrian family specialising in the sports of Show Jumping and Dressage. Simultaneously the company underwent a rebranding to Stride Equine Research to not only emphasis the focus on horses but also to pay homage to the research and testing that had been a hallmark of the company since 1998 and which continues today.

The company is 100% female owned and 100% female staffed. A commitment to empowering women in the equine industry.

Dr. Catton continues to be a consultant to the company and besides still conducting new business research he is a treasure trove of knowledge and experience available to the company and our customers.
